Christmas is Coming!!!

I wanted to give a little updated since the last posting:
I feel that since I did several postings only on Twilight I should say something about what I thought about the movie... So Twilight..... what can I say? I loved it! I will give my honest opinion on the movie but I want to make sure you all realize that really enjoyed the movie.
As anyone should realize a movie made from a book is never going to be as good as the book. Yes, there are those few expectations but in general you cannot get the same feeling from a movie that you can the book. For example, throughout Twilight the book we get to hear Bella's thoughts every second of the way. What she thinks about each of her friends when she meets them, what she things about her dad and so on. As the movie narrates some of it... the really important parts... we don't get to hear her thoughts of when everyone calls her Isabella on her first day. Therefore we don't see how happy she is when Edward calls her Bella the first time. That is a big point in the story where Bella realizes something about Edward and unless you are really paying attention in the movie you don't realize it. By the time he actually says her name everyone else in the school knows her by Bella. Things like that you just don't get out of a movie that you do a book. But they did a good job of including subtle but big moments like that.
One of my biggest beefs with the movie is the part in the forest where she tells Edward she knows he is a vampire. Yes, that is not quite how it happened in the book (anyone who hasn't seen the movie has probably figured it out by the previews so I hope I am not spoiling anything) but I am okay with this change. It did not change anything. But his little rant and rave thing is just weird.... the special effects are to "Harry Potter" for me and it doesn't look real. I would have like them to use more stunts rather than computer generated stuff. It was good but a little odd. He was like mad... but not... and not really saying much but talking a lot. It was an odd part. But as soon as that was over the rest of that forest scene was good.
Overall it was good! I was sad that they didn't show more of the bonding between Bella and Edward but they just didn't have enough time. They needed to build up the beginning but couldn't leave anything out at the end... so the middle was left to a minimum. But I think everyone gets the idea they are in love.
I saw it twice also... I liked it a lot better the second time around.
So that wasn't a little about Twilight... once I get going I can't stop....
But it is Thanksgiving and the Bray family is very excited!!! We are having a big day with family tomorrow which will be fun! Then it is BLACK FRIDAY.... don't know if we are going to go shopping and get anything but one thing we will for sure get is a Christmas Tree! Yes... we are so very excited for Christmas we can hardly stand it! I am planning on getting out the few decorations that we have and putting them anywhere I can! We also bought some lights for outside that we will try on a tree. We bought wrapping paper and all the toppings but when we got home, we realized that we had no presents to wrap yet! So we are going over to Grandma Ruth's tonight to wrap hers! Trent will soon realize my passion for wrapping! You will for sure see pictures of our tree when it is up and many others if I can just keep my camera charged! But until next time...

First Big Storm of the Year!
So this week the puppies started puppy class! It was very good but I was really nervous to go! So we go into the class and it is "Free Time." The first 10 minutes of class is time for them to play free from their leash with the other dogs. Well when we got in the room they started barking and I didn't want to take them of their leash. We separated them and Sketcher did well with the other dogs but Tucker... not so much. I think he was a little afraid of a few of the other puppies because they were so hyper and so much bigger than him. But he got better as the class went on. They will have 5 more classes so we will see what they learn!
So today was the first BIG snow storm of the year. (We did have one small one but the snow melted the next day). Well the dogs just LOVE the snow! Copper is visiting this week and they just love to pester him. Poor Copper can't turn his head without one of them being there. Sketcher and him are total buddies and tucker gets a little short when Copper gets his favorite bear. We are teaching Tucker how to share... he doesn't like it. But back to the topic on hand... They just love the snow and they get it all over them when they play outside. They come in with snow packed all over then run in and let it melt all over the nice new hardwood floors! Puddles EVERYWHERE!!!! Tucker has also learned that now he knows he is big enough to jump on the couch he can do it all the time... not so good when he is covered in snow!
Well here are a few pictures of today and the lovely snow storm!!! It was great!
This is what it looked like when I was driving home at lunch...
about a quarter of a mile visibility.... if that
Just BEAUTIFUL! Reminds me why I love this state!
They are suppose to be black.. that much snow!!!!

Vegas!!!
So our friend Jenny told us she had never been to Vegas about 2 months ago, so Trent and Suzanne were determined to take her there so we can show her what it's all about. So last weekend we set out after work and headed off to Vegas. The drive was fun and we got to jam out to the music on Trent's iPod. We stopped on the way to fill up with gas and we were shocked to find $4.49/gallon gas...and that's for regular gas! One day we'll look back and tell our kids, "Back in my day, we used gasoline in our vehicles and it cost $4.49/gallon. Be happy you only have to pay $100 to fill up your flux capacitor." Er...something like that. But for now, we'll just say it's a lot. Okay? Cool.

Jen and Jake "stretching their legs".
So after driving for a little while longer, we heard a collective grumbling coming from the stomachs of people in the car. That lead us to stop at the new In-N-Out Burger in St. George! It's great having one in Utah now, but it's still not in Salt Lake. :(
Finally about 11pm(12am Utah time) we made it into Vegas and we were unfortunately tired from the drive so we all went to bed without partying in Vegas. After sleeping in a little bit we had big plans to walk up and down the strip because Jenny wanted to see all the casino's. Well she and everyone else didn't plan for 107-degree weather and very little cloud cover. So that pushed us inside. We got some tickets to see some shows, one for that night and one for the next day before we left. Then we went to the Luxor for a Vegas-style buffet. Jake hadn't eaten in awhile(he turned down In-N-Out!!!) so he was anxious to chow down. We then walked around Luxor and Mandalay Bay, but we decided to go see Dark Knight which was awesome! After that we went and saw "Tony and Tina's Wedding" at The Rio. It was like attending a real wedding with just a bit more drama. Overall, it was okay. After that we all went to the Strip and watched the free show outside Treasure Island. The heat was sweltering still, so it was back home for the night.
The next morning we went to breakfast with Trent's brother, sister-in-law, and 2 nieces who live in Vegas. We went to a place called Egg Works and it was DELICIOUS! Too bad the portions were HUGE because we were all very full. We did some shopping, then went to a magic show at the Tropicana. This was seriously cool and they had a lot of animals. The guy was pretty funny too.
Here's our ticket
Jenny licked the ticket...it was cherry flavored apparently, I didn't dare try.

Jen and Jake excited to see the show
After the show, we hit the slots for about 5 minutes and walked away with a total winnings of $9.25!!! Too bad it took $8 to get that. It was still fun though and helped pay for the In-N-Out Burger on our way out. After a long drive home, we crashed and felt bad for Jen and Jake who had to wake up at 6am the next morning. All in all, it was a ton of fun, but we have to go back again with more time to play.

UH OH...
Yeah, so Trent and Suzanne decided on Saturday to go look at some Mini Schnauzer puppies that were for sale on KSL.com. Not really expecting much, they played with them for a bit, but when Trent picked up one dog it snuggled up to him and started licking his hand. It was then that Trent wasn't going to let this puppy go to anyone else. It's currently only 3 weeks old and can barely walk, but come the 2nd week of August we can go pick him up! Now to think of names...
Until next time...

Kung Fu Panda
So I've decided something. The best way to watch a movie is to rent out the entire theater. We were fortunate enough to experience this last weekend. Trent's nephew Alexander turned 3 and what he wanted for his birthday was to see Kung Fu Panda. So, his parents had the theater open at 9am and put on an exclusive showing of the movie. We were also greeted by a panda. Trent tried to see if Jack Black was underneath the panda costume but was quickly escorted off the premises. After a nice $40 bribe and a promise to be good again, he was let back in.
Here is Alexander greeted by the Panda:
And Trent and Suzanne with the Panda:
All in all the movie was pretty good. Lots of good laughs in it and will be something we pick up when it comes to DVD.

A Trip to the ER...
Jenny and Jake:
Trent and Suzanne:
Sam:
You'll notice there is no pictures of Sunnie and Mike, well they didn't make it to the house because 3 shots into the nerf gun war, Jake did his best James Bond impression. Unfortunately a sharp edge of a wall ended the glory and the war, and the wall won.
He ended up with this:
And we ended up going here:
Fortunately Jake did really well with the situation and only blames the wall and it's unforgiving nature for this mishap. But an hour, 6 stitches, and a trip to Denny's later, he was doing better. We'll have to see how he's doing in the morning, but I have a feeling he'll make a full recovery.
Here we are at Denny's.
Jake, thank you for a fun filled evening, it is definitely a night we won't forget anytime soon.
Until next time...
